Delta West Academy Society (“Delta West Academy,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) respects the privacy of the families and staff who use Dragon Sparks. This Privacy Policy explains what information is collected through the Dragon Sparks mobile application, how that information is used, and the choices available to users.

Dragon Sparks is a private school communication platform intended for parents and guardians of Delta West Academy students and authorized Delta West Academy staff. The app provides access to school communications including weekly classroom summaries, newsletters, calendars, upcoming events, announcements, photos, videos, and other school-related information.

For parent and guardian accounts, Delta West Academy Society stores only the information necessary to create, identify, approve, and manage an account. This consists of:

Email address
User ID

Users may create an account, but new accounts do not receive access to private school content until they have been approved by an authorized Delta West Academy administrator.

Dragon Sparks also supports Google Sign-In. If a user chooses Google Sign-In, Google processes information necessary to authenticate the user. Delta West Academy Society uses the resulting account information only for authentication, account identification, and determining whether the user is authorized to access Dragon Sparks.

Authorized teacher or staff accounts have additional functionality and may upload school-related content, including photos and videos, for display within Dragon Sparks.

The Dragon Sparks app and third-party service providers used to operate the app may automatically collect limited technical information, including device identifiers, app usage or product interaction information, crash reports, performance information, and other diagnostic data.

This information is used only to operate, maintain, secure, troubleshoot, analyze, and improve the performance and reliability of the app. It may also be used to identify technical problems and help prevent crashes or other service issues.

This technical and diagnostic information is not used for advertising, is not sold to third parties, and is not used to track users across apps or websites owned by other companies.

Information collected through Dragon Sparks is used only to operate and provide the app and its school communication functions. This includes authenticating users, approving access to private school content, maintaining user accounts, displaying appropriate school information, protecting the security of the app, providing technical support, delivering optional push notifications, and maintaining the reliability and performance of the service.

Personal information is not used for advertising or marketing.

Once an account has been approved, parents and guardians may view content published by authorized Delta West Academy staff. This may include classroom summaries, newsletters, school announcements, calendars, events, photos, videos, and related school communications.

Parent and guardian accounts cannot post comments, upload photos or videos, send messages to other users, or otherwise publish content through the app.

Authorized Delta West Academy staff may upload and manage school-related content as part of their role.

Dragon Sparks may offer optional push notifications for school announcements, newsletters, calendar information, upcoming events, and similar school communications.

Users are not required to enable push notifications to use the app. Push notification permissions can be changed at any time through the device’s settings.

Technical identifiers required to deliver notifications may be processed by the services used to operate the app.

Dragon Sparks is built and operated using third-party technology and infrastructure, including Base44 and Google services used for functions such as app hosting, authentication, security, and operation.

These service providers may process information as necessary to provide their services. This may include account authentication information and limited technical information used for security, diagnostics, crash reporting, performance monitoring, or app functionality.

Delta West Academy Society does not authorize these service providers to use Dragon Sparks user information for Delta West Academy advertising or marketing purposes.

Base44 acts as a service provider for applications built and hosted using its platform and may process information on behalf of application operators. Base44 maintains its own privacy and data-processing policies. 

Dragon Sparks does not contain advertising.

Delta West Academy Society does not sell, rent, or trade personal information.

Email addresses and account information are not used for cross-app advertising or tracking.

Dragon Sparks does not use personal information to build advertising profiles or deliver targeted advertising.

Delta West Academy Society does not sell or disclose personal information to advertisers.

Information may be processed by service providers where necessary to operate, secure, maintain, or support Dragon Sparks.

Information may also be disclosed where required by law, legal process, or where reasonably necessary to protect the security, rights, or safety of Delta West Academy Society, its users, or others.

Account information is retained only for as long as the Dragon Sparks account remains active or as otherwise necessary to operate the service.

Users may permanently delete their own account through the Settings section of Dragon Sparks.

When an account is deleted, the user’s Dragon Sparks account and associated account information are permanently deleted from the application, except for information that may need to be retained where required by law or for legitimate security or technical purposes.

Users who delete an account cannot regain access to private Dragon Sparks content simply by creating another account. Any new account must again be approved by an authorized Delta West Academy administrator.

Dragon Sparks allows users to initiate permanent account deletion directly within the app.

To delete an account, the user can open the Settings section of Dragon Sparks and select the account deletion option.

Account deletion is permanent.

Apple specifically requires apps that permit account creation to also permit users to initiate deletion of the account from within the app. Dragon Sparks provides this functionality through its Settings section. 

Dragon Sparks is intended for use by parents, guardians, and authorized Delta West Academy staff.

Dragon Sparks is not intended for students or children to create or operate their own user accounts.

The app may contain school-related content provided by authorized Delta West Academy staff, but access to the application is intended for approved adult users.

Delta West Academy Society takes reasonable administrative and technical measures to protect information handled through Dragon Sparks.

Access to private school content is restricted to accounts approved by authorized Delta West Academy administrators.

No method of electronic transmission or storage can be guaranteed to be completely secure. Users should protect their login credentials and notify Delta West Academy Society if they believe their account has been accessed without authorization.

Users can control whether they receive push notifications through their device settings.

Users can permanently delete their Dragon Sparks account through the app’s Settings section.

Users may contact Delta West Academy Society with questions about their personal information or privacy practices.

Delta West Academy Society may update this Privacy Policy if Dragon Sparks features, services, or privacy practices change.

When the policy is updated, the Effective Date at the top of this page will be changed. Users are encouraged to review the Privacy Policy periodically.
