We chose DWA because it provides a well rounded education, focusing on the core subjects then enhanced via small class sizes and field trips. We are now entering our 6th year at the school and have never regretted being part of the school.
I cannot stress enough how much these teachers really do care about helping develop the students both from an academic and personal development perspective. I don’t think it is normal to have direct email contact with your teachers but at DWA there is regular two way communication about both individual students and the school as a whole. The teachers and administration work hard to create a culture of academic achievement, personal improvement, mutual respect for differing views and sense of community. The students are polite, well-mannered and are always looking at ways to help in the local community. Where else will you find a high school student taking time to talk to an elementary student?
Our family is very happy with our choice to join DWA. They love the DWA experience and hate being picked up early and count down the days on summer vacation until they can go back to school!
As a full time working parent, the thing I’ve enjoyed the most about DWA is that it’s allowed me to be the person that takes my daughter to school every morning, no middleman. The close proximity to the downtown core also allows me the opportunity to take part in the monthly fun lunches and generally be a part of my daughter’s school experience. As a student, the thing my daughter has enjoyed the most is the individual attention from the teachers; she knows that there is always time for her to ask a question. She will readily tell you she loves her school
In middle school our daughter was struggling to maintain a love of learning and the excellent marks she previously enjoyed. We chose Delta West after exploring numerous other school options because of it’s small class sizes and convenient location. In the few years we’ve been a part of the Delta West community we’ve seen our daughter excel in her academics thanks to the dedication of her teachers. Her focus and love for learning has returned and her desire to succeed has increased substantially. Delta West was the right choice at the right time for our family.
The low teacher and student ratio has a great impact for the development of our kids. Our kids build a very close relationship with every teacher in the school. They can talk to any of them for the concerns and questions any time. Our kids learn the communication skills with adults / authorities in a very open environment, which build up their confidence and will benefit for their life in a long way. As a parent, we are very pleased to see their growth.
Smaller class sizes equal more time in class to study and get through content. Everyone here is supportive and helps each other to achieve their goals
I have been at Delta West Academy for four years now. During this time I have excelled in the subjects I once struggled in, my math and English marks have improved significantly since I moved from public school. The extra help I have received from the teachers has allowed for me to prepare for university more than I could have hoped for.
Teachers and students are both very supportive and nice to each other. Everyone can feel a sense of home and loveliness here
I am very proud that I have been able to join this school. The teachers are kind and help you when you need it. They teach amazingly and won’t let you give up. The classes are fun and the school does amazing activities. The kids in class are funny and amazing classmates. I could have never chosen a better school than DWA.
Pros: Small class sizes, so it is easier to talk with teachers if you have a problem with your work. The school has improved my grammar and multiplication tables. It is a good school; I have made many friends in this school due to the small class sizes. I love this school because it has improved my skills in almost all subjects. This school also has language programs in both Spanish and French which most schools only have one of.
I love delta west academy! The reason why I like this school is because my years here I have improved so much. Another thing I like about the school is that there is a lot of equipment there which helps students in every subject. The students are really nice and the teachers and extremely nice.
Delta West Academy is an amazing school that is very fun and loving. Ever since I came to Delta West Academy I’ve never been afraid to put my hand up. Every student at DWA is happy and smart. Every student helps one another and a lot of fun. Everyone is happy and loving. I love the fact that there are small classes because it’s easier for every student to get help if needed and its easier for teachers. The staff here at Delta West Academy are so kind and treat everyone equally. Delta West Academy has helped me accomplish my goals and finally be in a caring, and joyful school. There is honestly no feedback that I can give DWA because DWA is perfect the way it is.
The teachers here are great, and they always help me when I’m stuck or when I don’t understand something. The small class sizes allow me to make a lot of friends and get to know everyone.
Attending high school at DWA meant that I graduated with all of the doors available to me open. I had my choice of post secondary institutions, and the work ethic to excel in any program I chose. My choice was to attend an extremely demanding Bachelor of Interior Design program of 35 students, as one of only 5 students accepted right out of high school. I graduated from that program with top grades and have been working with an esteemed local firm in the industry for five years. No high school experience is without its challenges, but during my time at DWA I was encouraged to think critically and to develop relationships outside the high school silo, both skills which have stood me exceptionally well
Delta West Academy (DWA) truly changed my life. At DWA, I gained the skills necessary to become successful in any career I choose. Growing up in rural Northern Manitoba, my dreams and aspirations were limited to my narrow view of the world. It was the inspiring teachers at DWA that pushed me to expand my perspectives and develop in to the person I am today.
At Delta West Academy I learned how to manage time which is a huge skill, especially in university when everyone has a busy schedule. Time is precious and being able to use it wisely make all the difference, whether that means being able to take on more activities or make time for yourself. DWA went beyond academic and taught me how to develop and maintain close friendships, I still regularly talk with my friends from high school despite living in different provinces. I am grateful for the growth the DWA community fostered in me for the 14 years I attended and the memorable education I received
At the moment I’m doing a Specialist in Neurosciences at the University of Toronto. It is very challenging, however, it is a truly rewarding experience.
DWA helped me and my peers prepare for university by giving us many opportunities to differentiate ourselves from others and to become well-rounded students. It is a place like DWA that helped me grow into the person I am today and allowed me to become an excellent addition to the community
Here’s a little update since I’ve graduated DWA in 2013. I’m in my last year of my business degree majoring in Operations Management. Throughout my university years, I have met many incredible people in the business world and also long term friends. Additionally, I also took on several executive positions in two student clubs, AIESEC (an international non-for-profit student organization) and AMIO (Management Information and Operations Organization). I was a director for 2 terms in AIESEC then I joined the OC (Organizing Committee) team to organize a Western Regional Conference in 2016 where I was OCVP Logistics. At the same time when I was OCVP Logistics for AIESEC, I was also VP Events for AMIO. Now, I am focussing on completing my business degree and graduate in Spring 2018 then continue to work as Project Coordinator for a start up company. DWA encouraged me to work hard towards my goals and helped me understand that hard work does pay off at the end. Not only DWA encouraged me to work hard but also helped me prepare for University.
